In many European cities, it is illegal to photograph government buildings and military installations without permission from the local authorities. In Florence and Rome, tickets and fines can be imposed on tourists who sit, eat or drink on the steps or in the courtyards of major churches and public buildings.

So I guess it wasn't legal to photograph these two Florentine policemen with their distinctive headdresses. When I pointed the viewfinder of my camera at them, they turned their heads away as if to say: “Take your photo, we didn't see you”. Thank you Polizzia!
